Local Girl Beats Cancer, Plans to Celebrate With the Community

Zoe Feldman invites the entire Agoura Hills community to her fourth birthday party this Sunday at Reyes Adobe Park.

Zoe Feldman, the Agoura Hills child that was diagnosed with sarcoma botryoides–a malignancy of the muscles–at the age of two-and-a-half, turned four August 2 and wants to include the entire community in the celebration.

On Sunday, August 18, the Feldmans are holding a community birthday bash at Reyes Adobe Park, complete with music, food, Disney characters, face painting and more.

"Personally, I hate those over-done kid birthday parties," said Jeffrey Feldman, Zoe's father. "But we wanted to do something special to thank everyone for their kindness and support through Zoe's ordeal."

In September of 2012, Zoe underwent radical surgery at Children's Hospital LA to remove her tumors, but the procedure also removed major organs, including her uterus and bladder.

The result? She is currently cancer-free with a 10 percent chance of recurrence, Jeffrey said.

"Valentine's Day, February 14th, was her last chemo treatment," Jeffrey said.

However, Zoe is required to go for frequent body scans over the next five years.

The entire family just returned from a vacation to Orlando, Florida, courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

"We went everywhere, Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios," Jeffrey said. "It was an amazing trip."

Zoe plans to attend Elan Ramon Day School to begin TK this fall, but in the meantime, is excited about her party.

Jeffrey wrote on Zoe's Facebook page:

...we really, really want all of you to join us this coming Sunday for Zoe's birthday. Invite all of your friends and family as well. The party is being held from 4-7 p.m. and everyone is invited to bring a blanket and picnic basket.
Jeffrey also wants to put it out there that if anyone is interested in lending their services or is interested in volunteering, to call him at 818-314-1501.
