Primary schools were in the Las Virgenes area since the 1888 including your picture of CalabasasRead More Elementary (1890). A unified district was actually formed in 1947, but kids still went to High School in Canoga Park. 50 years ago is when the district was reformed to include highs schools as well as elementary education.

I'm a parent at MAriposa and I don't see any issues. This was more of a pull factor for Dr. Paul,Read More since he lives in Topanga. It was simply an offer he couldn't refuse, IMO. We will miss his humor, insight, and leadership. I'm sure Mariposa will find a great replacement. There are so many active parents and teachers (read: hands-on learning) that the transition won't be as difficult as you might think

so, the leader of the district can't do math, and he's thrilled with Agoura being the worst schoolRead More in the area. as john says, that pretty much explains it. still, i was there from 1969-73, and i loved every minute, and received a great education.

"Agoura Hills High School is the 263rd best high school in California..." "There areRead More over 1,300 high schools in California, so this places us in the top 8 percent." The math doesn't add up, this probably explains why we are ranked so low.

l hope Agoura Patch reminds those "last minute" property owners that will be payingRead More property taxes tomorrow! to avoid the traffic in that area when heading to the post office ...remind them envelopes must be post marked April 10 to avoid penalties! or to head out to the PO EARLY today rather than later or pay online before servers crash! :-)

I so agree with you Meril. It is not just a Fountainwood traffic problem. It is a city-wide problemRead More that continues to grow. The traffic and safety impacts that these expansions are having need to be addressed. We can't just look the other way and say "Well we need the revenue." Where are the impact studies? Have they been published or provided for the residents to see? I don't believe they have.
Pam Williams April 7, 2013 at 11:15 pm
Correction: The Calmfield neighbors are not the only people concerned about the traffic problems.Read More The "Fountainwood" neighbors are concerned about the traffic problems as the current and future traffic congestion and unsafe traffic conditions affect all of the Fountainwood neighborhood and surrounding areas.

We have the same problem in Old Agoura. With the combined campuses of Agoura Hills High and IndianRead More Hills High School and the new music center our traffic pattern is at a standstill between 8 and 9 AM and 3 to 4 PM. Also with the new code of allowing large vehicles to park on our streets, the streets have become obstacle courses. The city and district need to realize the impact these decisions are making on our community.

Students can complete projects aligned to an integrated unit with the 50 year theme. AssignmentsRead More can include grade appropriate projects related to 1963 with a focus on music, art, local, national, international history, popular culture, or photography, etc. Perhaps concerts/performances in our new Performing Arts Centers.
