District Announces New Principal for Mariposa School of Global Education

Nema Pierce has been selected at principal of Mariposa School of Global Education, Superintendent Dan Stepenosky announced at Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting.

"I am pleased to welcome Ms. Nema Pierce to our district," Stepenosky said. "Ms. Pierce brings with her a diverse background with instructional time in both the elementary and secondary settings. Her passion, dedication and enthusiasm for the well-being of all children are clearly evident to all who meet her. She will be a wonderful addition to the Mariposa school community."

Pierce has worked in education for over 20 years after earning her bachelor's degree in dance and multiple subjects teaching credential at the University of California-Santa Barbara. She earned her masters degree in educational administration at California State University-Northridge, according to a Las Virgenes Unified School District press release..

Pierce comes to the district with a k-8 background and extensive experience in site management scheduling, team building, professional development and after-school programs, the release said.

As an administrator, Pierce provided site and district leadership as a program coordinator and assisted the principals in daily site management, including development of schedules, textbook ordering, oversight of state-mandated testing, certificated and classified evaluations and student discipline, the release said.

"I am honored and excited to join this remarkable school, providing leadership and support to this close-knit educational community," Pierce said.

The LVUSD school year begins on August 21st.
