Agoura Adventures: Malibu Creek State Park's Rock Pool

This week, Andrew Cohen shares his favorite spot tucked within Agoura's nearby Malibu Creek State Park.

Malibu Creek State Park: Just 25 miles from downtown Los Angeles, the park was the center of Chumash Native American life for centuries and was once used to film numerous movies and TV shows, such as "Planet of the Apes" and "M*A*S*H." With 15 miles of streamside trail through Oak and Sycamore woodlands, and chaparral-covered slopes, the park features hiking, fishing, bird watching and horseback riding opportunities.

Location: From Highway 101/Ventura Freeway in Agoura Hills, exit on Las Virgines Road.  Turn right onto Las Virgines, and continue for about two miles, until you see Malibu Creek State Park on the right.

Featured trails: The hike to the rock pool is about 1.5 miles.
