5 Things You Need to Know Today: Nov. 12

Winds continue to whip through Agoura Hills. Hopefully Oaks Christian won't do the same to the Chargers tonight.

  1. It's Friday—that means for Agoura High. After blowing a 21-point lead and losing 37-34 in overtime to Royal at homecoming last week, the Chargers are back at it, taking on powerhouse Oaks Christian in their final Marmonte League game. To get pumped, check out our  with Agoura football standouts Gerard Poutier and Kevin Beams.
  2. The holidays are just around the corner (well, sort of), so get your shop on at from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the school's multipurpose room. The fundraiser will feature a variety of vendors, from women's clothing to gourmet foods, with items spanning survival gear (yes, that's right), jewelry, soy candles, and children's clothing.
  3. Calling all aspiring writers, filmmakers, photographers, dancers, visual artists, and composers. Agoura High School ARTS PTSA competition is on. To learn more about rules of entry and submission tips, swing by the lunch meeting in A-1.
  4. is tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., but you might want to buy your tickets online today. Agoura Hills Patch will be in attendance, so stop by our booth while surveying the food trucks and taking in the tunes. Proceeds from the event will benefit the International Baccalaureate program. Our About Town has the scoop.
  5. Forecast calls for sunny, with a high near 77, according to the National Weather Service. But don't forget about the wind. Northeasterly gusts will continue to blow through Agoura Hills today. I recommend chapstick and eye drops.
