Willow Students Appreciate 'Everyday Gifts'

Study buddies from two classrooms tell the school in words and song how to appreciate the world around them.

For the past 10 years, the study buddies of Mrs. Esqueda's second grade class and Mrs. Church's fourth grade class have been pairing up to create the holiday program Everyday Gifts, which is presented before parents and the entire school.

"We do this to help the children realize that there are gifts in the world that don't cost money," said Esqueda. "That we need to look around and appreciate what we have in our lives."

Each child pairs off with a study buddy and writes about his or her own themed "gift" and why it is appreciated. During the show, the children spoke of topics such as health, knowlege, happiness, friends, family, love and holidays.
