Willow Students Celebrate California History With Song, Dance and Food

Willow's fourth graders celebrated the school's 15th annual Fiesta Day Wednesday.

fourth grade classes gathered in the multi-purpose room on Wednesday to tell their gathered audience, in story and song, the history of California.

"We learn about California history in fourth grade, so this is the celebration of all of the information and the kids' hard work," said Sharlene Church, a fourth grade teacher.

Willow has been holding this annual event for the past 15 years, said Church.

Each of the kids has his or her own individual monologue, and the stories are punctuated by familiar Old West folk songs.

"I think this is wonderful," said parent Eric Bernt. "The kids' performance was was great and the food was wonderful."

"It was fun watching the kids perform," said parent Tracy Sirkus. "They all memorized their flashcards very well, and Alamo did a great job."
