T.H.E. Foundation to Host Kindergarten Welcome Party

The fundraising organization is holding a special event for all incoming LVUSD Kinder kids and their families.

for Las Virgenes Schools is inviting all incoming LVUSD Kindergartners and their families to a Kindergarten Welcome Party on Sunday, Aug. 12, from 12-2 p.m.

Although this is a kinder party, the foundation welcomes all new incoming families, according to Jessica Pinto Nedick, T.H.E.'s vice president of marketing and communications.

"Our goal is to engage parents of all grades," said Pinto Nedick. "That is what sets us apart from other fundraising organizations like the individual PFC/A's. Whereas they pay for technology and programs for their individual schools, we are raising funds to save teachers and counselors for all schools: K-12."

By gifting proceeds directly to the district, the foundation is able to make a long-term significant impact in elevating the level of excellence in each school, which in turn protects the LVUSD and its standing as a "destination district," said Pinto Nedick.

The event, which takes place at A.E. Wright Middle School (4111 N. Las Virgenes Road, Calabasas), will offer food, Sports n' More, a DJ, face-painting, balloons and more, according to the invitation.

Parking will be available at the as well as at the school.

RSVP to secretary@togetherhelpingeducation.org by August 8.

Either way it is wrong and uses the race card as a "despicable stunt"

Not a hate crime at all. Just a very stupid kid trying to manipulate the system so he could beRead More granted a athletic transfer. One of the kids on the "hit list" was the perp. Really despicable stunt.

It is unfortunate that this incident happened at our local schools. The crime is a result ofRead More ignorance and lack of education. All members of our community regardless of their race, creed, or religion should be respected. Perhaps our community needs to introspect and see why this occurred and how further events can be prevented.

Thanks for your great perspective on this issue. We should all unplug once in awhile.

I think for the most part, people are mentally drained. Few take the time to sit back relaxRead More anymore. Even when we do have a minute to ourselves, we're constantly bombarded with emails, text messages and status updates. If we unplugged ourselves from our devices, we might find the serenity we all so desperately need. Turn your phone off, take a hike. Find a big tree next to a creek and sit under the shade. Enjoy nature. Listen to the sound of the water, the birds and the breeze as it moves through the brush. When you get back to nature, if only for a short time, you'll leave with a clear mind and feel revitalized. You're right---technology was supposed to make our lives more simple. Instead, it fuels the attention deficit disorder as our brain becomes a hashtag with a constant barrage of (often useless) news and updates. Although I'm young, I'd give anything to go back to the days where calling someone often led to a wild goose chase of finding an available payphone and spare change to make the call.

If you can't talk politics with friends without being able to agree to disagree or even end upRead More losing them as friends then they were not the "friends" you thought they were anyway.

It's not about moving forward, it's about saving your breath! That's the whole problem; too muchRead More talk and not enough action! You gonna eat that fish or just hold it up in the air?
Dave April 7, 2013 at 07:29 am
then again, if you only speak with people who agree with you, how do you ever move forward? aren'tRead More you just "spinning your wheels" staying in the same spot never moving forward?
