'Green' Heat Relief Provided to Agoura High Football Players

A local Realtor and fundraising group have collaborated to offer hydration to Charger team.

August 20, 2012/ Community Funding Solutions and The McLaughlin Group have collaborated to furnish a much-needed Hydration Station for the Agoura High School Football Foundation. Players who have been sweltering through practices and scrimmages in the recent triple digit heat can now hydrate from a portable water source without using bottled water or plastic cups. The Hydration Station keeps the water cool and provides six flex hoses that the players can use to douse or drink for relief from the heat and potentially harmful de-hydration.

“We like the portability and design of this Hydration Station as well as the advantage of not throwing away hundreds of plastic water bottles during practices,” said Matthew Breddan, president of the foundation. ”The students love it and it feels good to be doing something so “green” and healthy for our players.”

“When Community Funding Solutions approached us about becoming a part of their giving program we responded immediately," said Dave McLaughlin, from The McLaughlin Group. "I played football for Agoura football. I’ve been in that heat and it puts a big smile on my face to know we are providing some relief.”

About Community Funding Solutions:

Community Funding Solutions (CFS) is a social enterprise that turns residential real estate transactions into charitable giving opportunities. Consumers support the school or non-profit of their choice by selecting a CFS affiliated real estate professional when they buy or sell a home. The CFS agents have committed to donate 20% of their commission to a school or non-profit, chosen by the consumer, when the transaction closes. Called “No Cost Giving”, CFS enables consumers to support non-profit causes through their choice of real estate agents who are committed to improving the communities they work in.
The CFS service is free for consumers, non-profits, and schools. CFS beneficiaries include the following organizations that are working hard to improve the communities they serve – Agoura High School Football Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County and Ventura County. The information we received from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's station was that a mentally illRead More patient was removed from the bus Sunday night. No one was harmed, officials said.

Thanks for your great perspective on this issue. We should all unplug once in awhile.

I think for the most part, people are mentally drained. Few take the time to sit back relaxRead More anymore. Even when we do have a minute to ourselves, we're constantly bombarded with emails, text messages and status updates. If we unplugged ourselves from our devices, we might find the serenity we all so desperately need. Turn your phone off, take a hike. Find a big tree next to a creek and sit under the shade. Enjoy nature. Listen to the sound of the water, the birds and the breeze as it moves through the brush. When you get back to nature, if only for a short time, you'll leave with a clear mind and feel revitalized. You're right---technology was supposed to make our lives more simple. Instead, it fuels the attention deficit disorder as our brain becomes a hashtag with a constant barrage of (often useless) news and updates. Although I'm young, I'd give anything to go back to the days where calling someone often led to a wild goose chase of finding an available payphone and spare change to make the call.

If you can't talk politics with friends without being able to agree to disagree or even end upRead More losing them as friends then they were not the "friends" you thought they were anyway.

It's not about moving forward, it's about saving your breath! That's the whole problem; too muchRead More talk and not enough action! You gonna eat that fish or just hold it up in the air?

then again, if you only speak with people who agree with you, how do you ever move forward? aren'tRead More you just "spinning your wheels" staying in the same spot never moving forward?
