T.H.E. Foundation Presents Big Check To School District

Board members from the T.H.E. Foundation formally presented a check for $303,000 to the Las Virgenes Unified School District at Tuesday night's board of education meeting. The check is 50 percent more than last year's donation, according to T.H.E. Foundation president Deanna Glassberg.

The money was raised through business and personal donations, phone call drives and this year's star-studded T.H.E. Event.

"T.H.E. Foundation's goal is to help ensure that every child, in every school, has the opportunities and resources to succeed and reach their full potential," Glassberg said in a press release. "We are committed t supporting our school district with the resources necessary to ensure long term success for our students and our community."

Over the past two years, T.H.E. has supported the district by raising over $500,000 in funding which go into hire teachers, reduce class size and expand counseling programs.

Superintendent Dr. Dan Stepenosky expressed his appreciation for the T.H.E.'s efforts.

"The reality is that in today's budget environment, successful school districts must develop a culture of local, community giving to be able to continue to offer the educational opportunities our children deserve," he said. "Our partnership with T.H.E. Foundation helps ensure each and every one of our schools have the resources necessary for success."
