What Does It Mean To Be Lutheran Today? The Rev. R. Guy Erwin
What is it that Lutherans around the world still have in common after almost 500 years? What holds them together in a world religious environment that encourages division and dissension? What does the future of Lutheranism look like?
R. Guy Erwin, CLU’s Gerhard and Olga J. Belgum Professor in Lutheran Confessional Theology, director of the Segerhammar Center for Faith and Culture and an authority on the theology of Martin Luther and the history of Lutheranism, presents material from his forthcoming “Introduction to World Lutheranism.” The book, co-authored with DeAne Lagerquist of St. Olaf College, will be published next year by Cambridge University Press. An ordained minister in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Erwin holds a Ph.D. and two master’s degrees from Yale University.
Admission is free. Event will take place in the Roth Nelson Room at California Lutheran University. Sponsored by the Segerhammar Center for Faith and Culture and the Religion Department. For information, contact Linda LeBlanc at 805-493-3936 or leblanc@callutheran.edu.
