You never know when the “big one” will hit, but you can be “in the know” by attending Earthquake Preparedness Night Wednesday, February 29th at 7 p.m. at Agoura High School (28545 West Driver Street, Agoura Hills).
Presented by the Agoura High International Baccalaureate Parent’s Association, the FREE community event will feature guest speaker Maria Grycan, Community Services Liaison for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, accompanied by local Agoura Hills firefighters.
Grycan’s step-by-step guidance and life-saving tips will give attendees the tools they need to begin preparing for disasters, and will offer insight into the Department’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training Program. Within the first five minutes of a disaster, all available resources will have been committed, leaving you and your neighbors to help yourselves. CERT training will help minimize the effects of a disaster and facilitate recovery.
Rosie’s BBQ will be on hand with a special selection of delectable favorites available for purchase from pre-order requests. Pre-order forms are available at www.ahs-ibpa.com. Dinner service runs 5:30-7 p.m.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase Roadside Emergency Kits that are great for home or in the car and contain enough supplies for three days of survival. Other SOS Survival Products and emergency supplies will also be available for purchase and special order.
The evening is made possible thanks to support from generous sponsors: Agoura Lube & Smog, Pelican Cases, Rob Jordan at Keller Williams Realty, Cheryl Jacobson Chase at State Farm, Lindero Learning Center, and SOS Survival Products.
