Agoura High School Jazz Band To Compete In National Festival

The Jazz Band is one of 12 school bands chosen for the Swing Central Jazz competition in Savannah, Ga.

Agoura High School students in Studio Jazz band and Jazz A band have been chosen to compete in Swing Central Jazz, a three-day workshop and competition in Savannah Georgia.

The jazz band is the only California school competing against schools from Colorado, Indiana, Florida and Michigan for $13,000 in awards. Students will perform in showcases, competitions and attend workshops led by an eclectic mix of jazz educators.

“This is a great accomplishment and start to the year, but it is just the beginning of the hard work that we are optimistically looking forward to for the jazz bands and all of the other groups in our program,” said Agoura High School music director Chad Bloom.
