Poll: Agoura Recognizes 'A Day Without a Bag'

As a 'holiday gift to the environment,' Heal the Bay is holding its 5th annual 'A Day Without a Bag' on Thursday.

Los Angeles County is recognizing the 5th annual "A Day without a Bag" campaign on Thursday.   

Established by Heal the Bay as a "holiday gift to the environment," the non-profit environmental advocacy organization, shoppers and retailers throughout Los Angeles are being asked to forgo conventional, single-use plastic bags in favor of eco-friendly ones.

Consumers in L.A. County use more than 6 billion plastic bags per year, which translates into 500 bags per person, according to the organization.

The City of Agoura Hills is giving away free re-usable bags at City Hall, the library and at the recreation center.

At Wednesday night's City Council meeting, councilmember Harry Schwarz recommended that "the City should look into an ordinance of banning plastic bags altogether at some point."
