The second installment of the 2012-13 property taxes are due Wednesday, April 10.cc
Payment becomes delinquent if not received by 5 p.m. or postmarked before midnight on April 10.
“To avoid late penalties, taxpayers should not wait until the statutory deadline; please pay early," says Treasurer and Tax Collector Mark Saladino.
lf mailing on or near the deadline, Saladino advises you to get a hand cancellation or Certificate of Mailing. Only official USPS postmarks are acceptable as proof of mailing; the date shown by a postage meter or electronic postage is not legally acceptable as proof of mailing, he said.
Checks should be payable to the Los Angeles County Tax Collector and include the appropriate second installment payment stub marked "2." If you've lost your tax bill a substitute can be obtained from the Treasurer and Tax Collector’s Office or any local Assessor’s Office.
