Local Artist to be Honored at City Council Meeting

Agoura's renowned equine artist Fred Stone will received a proclamation at tonight's meeting.

Fred Stone, the renowned equine artist, will receive a proclamation at tonight's City Council meeting in at 6 p.m.

The longtime Old Agoura resident will be holding a rare, one-man exhibit of 12 original paintings this weekend at the Thousand Oaks Community Gallery in Newbury Park.

One of Stone's most famous posters, titled Partners, which depicts a fireman and his search dog, has now raised over one half million dollars for the ASPCA, Canine Search & Rescue, the Oklahoma Memorial and the families of firemen who died on 9/11. This poster now hangs in the White House.

The exhibit is a cooperative efforts of the The Westlake Art Guild, the City of Thousand Oaks Cultural Affairs Department and the City of Agoura Hills’ Cultural Arts Council.
