City Council to Consider Acquiring Land for Agoura Road Widening

The council meets Wednesday evening.

The Agoura Hills City Council will consider Wednesday taking slivers of two properties by eminent domain to widen Agoura Road.

The council will consider what is called a “declaration of necessity” in bureaucratic-speak.

The two properties are on the southeast corner of Agoura Road and Kanan Road.

The larger Agoura Road Widening Project is scheduled to start construction later in 2014 and will widen the existing road to four lanes, from Kanan Road to the city’s westerly city limits. The project will also provide landscaped medians and parkways, sidewalks and bike lanes.

One easement encompasses 155 square feet, the other 100 square feet. The city is offering about $7,000 for the properties, not including legal costs, according to a report to the council.
