3 Seats Open on Agoura Hills City Council For November General Elections

For residents interested in sitting on the Agoura Hills City Council, the time for candidacy filing is now through August 9th.

There are three seats are up in the November general elections.

Incumbents Mayor Denis Weber, Mayor Pro Tem Bill Koehler and Harry Schwarz have announced they will be seeking re-election.

Interested candidates "must be a resident of the City of Agoura Hills and a registered voter in the City at the time nomination papers are issued and throughout the time the person is in office," according to the city website.

In order to begin the process of running for office, interested residents must first contact the city clerk's office at 818-597-7300 during the filing period to set up an appointment to pull nomination papers. That first step will begin the process of gathering the necessary approvals to move forward.

"Nothing is written in stone until you are qualified," said City Clerk Kimberly Rodriques.

Agoura Hills City Council will hold their official reorganization meeting on December 3, 2013, to seat the newly elected councilmembers and select a mayor and mayor pro tem for 2013-14.
