A man seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Kanan Road Tuesday is expected to survive, and the other driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The crash was reported just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 on Kanan Road near Thousand Oaks Boulevard, according to Lt. Jim Royal of the Lost Hills/Malibu Sheriff's Station.
The driver of a SUV was pulling out of a driveway when a Nissan slammed into the SUV, said Det. Michael Raines, who is with the station's traffic division.
The SUV driver, whose name was not released, was thrown from the driver's side window and was flown to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries to his shoulder, Raines said. He is expected to survive.
The other driver, who was only identified as a 37-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
"All the witnesses said the party that caused the crash was traveling at a high rate of speed. He was passing people on the right," Raines said.
A blood sample was taken at the scene, which will be analyzed in the coming days, he said.
