Sisters Share the Gift of Giving With the Agoura Hills Animal Shelter

Two philanthropic sisters raise money for animals in need and present their donation to the shelter on Thursday.

Woodland Hills sisters Lila and Rose Dubois donated $263 they raised on their own to the Thursday evening.

"Lila, 10, toured the shelter with her scout group about a year ago and has been collecting donations ever since," said Helen Hartel, shelter volunteer and Pet of the Week columnist.

Younger sister Rose,7, has been helping out, too.

The girls raised the money by putting out donation boxes at the work places of family and friends. It took them about a year to raise this amount. They also used their allowance money to buy toys and treats for the pets.

The money was delivered in cash in a shoe box containing lots of change and singles, a few fives and twenties.

Robin Kahrs, President of Malibu Pet Companions and Jan Owen, President of Friends of Homeless Animals accepted the donation.

Both organizations are non profit and use the donations for the health and well being of all the animals with special needs that come to the shelter.
