Sheriff's Station Issues Burglary Alert

The Lost Hills/Malibu Sheriff's Station advises residents to be on alert for "knock knock" burglars, a trend that appears to be on the rise.

Local residents are being urged to watch out for "knock knock" type burglars, according to an advisory released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Such crimes mark a rising trend of home invasions in upscale areas, according to the alert issued by Capt. Joseph Stephen of the Lost Hills/Malibu Sheriff's Station.

The would-be burglars knock on the door and if no one answers, they assume that no one is home, said the advisory, and look for an open window or other way in.

According to the report, Calabasas experienced a similar type burglary attempt on September 27 in which the resident scared away a suspect with a shotgun.
