Precariously Leaning Power Pole Causes Business Evacuation, Street Closure

A power pole located along Roadside Drive at Cornell Road has been blown over by the strong winds, causing it to lean sideways.

"No fire, but the transmission line is currently being held up by the wires, so the power company is working right now to de-energize it," said Capt. Bob Whitman of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station.

Local businesses like Kinko's and Wood Ranch Restaurant have been evacuated as a safety precaution and Roadside Drive is closed as are all access points, Whitmore said.

It should take several more hours before the problem is fixed, Whitmore said.
