PHOTOS: Search & Rescue, Firefighters Train in Over the Side Drills

The joint drills are part of training to ensure smooth, safe and efficient communication, tactics and field performance for vehicle over the side rescue and recovery operations.

Members of Malibu Search and Rescue and the Los Angeles County Fire Department took part in a joint vehicle over the side drill Sunday on Kanan Road south of Agoura Hills.

The drills began Sunday morning just north of the first tunnel, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Malibu Search and Rescue. 

The joint drills are part of training to ensure smooth, safe and efficient communication, tactics and field performance for vehicle over the side rescue and recovery operations. 
 
A helicopter and canine teams also took part in the exercise.
