Juvenile Arrested in Connection with Agoura Hills Brush Fire

Approximately 1.5 acres are burned near an apartment complex.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested Monday night in Agoura Hills on suspicion of starting a brush fire that burned approximately 1.5 acres behind an apartment complex on 5738 Skyview Way.

An estimated 100 Ventura County and Los Angeles County firefighters responded to the blaze, which was knocked down without injury around 5:30 p.m., according to L.A. Supervising Fire Dispatcher Cheryl Sims.

Firefighters were called to the scene at approximately 5 p.m., according to Capt. Chuck Lockmann.

"The fire was creeping up hill, so our trucks were deployed behind the hill for structure protection in case the fire reached the fence by the homes," Lockmann said.

LAFD helicopters made two water drops, which ultimately put out the fire.

When asked about the cause of the blaze, Lockmann said that the sheriff's department is currently questioning the minor who was seen in the area.

"I can't say more than that or speculate," he said.
