Chamber Honors Sheriff's Deputies

The Agoura/Oak Park/Calabasas/Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce recognizes eight standout members of the Burglary Apprehension Team.

Eight members of the Los Angeles County Burglary Apprehension Team (BAT) were honored Wednesday at the Chamber of Commerce's 10th Annual Community Leader's Awards Ceremony, held at the Sagebrush Cantina in Calabasas.

Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff Station Capt. Joe Stephen and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Chief Bill McSweeney presented awards to deputies John McKay, Lazaro Sanchez, Kristina Seitz, Joel Armstrong, Guillermo Loza, Justin Soloman, Ismael Rodriguez and Jose Perez.

"These deputies collectively arrested 63 people in three months. They put 36 felons in custody and 27 misdemeanor suspects," said the team's supervisor, Sgt. Mike Holland.

Former Lost Hills captain Cmdr. Tom Martin was also honored at the ceremony.

"It was very, very nice to give him a warm goodbye," said Chief McSweeney, "and I am glad I could be a part of it."

The chamber provided each award recipient with a plaque and dinner for four.
