Calabasas Woman Suffering Asthma Attack Rescued From 150-Foot Canyon

The Calabasas resident was brought to safety from the bottom of a 150-foot poison-oak laden canyon off Mulholland Highway near Agoura Hills.

A Calabasas woman with a medical condition was brought to safety Thursday off Kanan Road south of Agoura Hills.

The rescue began just after 6 p.m. Thursday about 150 feet down a poison oak laden canyon off Mulholland Highway east of Kanan Road, near a popular area called the "Rock Store."

The 18-year-old woman called 911 to report she was suffering from an asthma attack and that she was unable to hike out on her own, according to David Katz a spokesman with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Malibu Search and Rescue.

Malibu Search and Rescue and the Los Angeles County Fire Department made their way down the canyon and brought the woman to safety using a harness, truck and winch system, Katz said.

According to Malibu Search and Rescue personnel, this was the second rescue that the team has responded to in this particular location known to locals as the “tree house”, located at the bottom of a canyon, according to Katz.
