Burglary Suspect Arrested in Agoura Hills Identified

Joseph Wood, 32, of Agoura Hills was arrested by police on Wednesday.

The man suspected of a local burglary that was arrested Wednesday morning by detectives from the Malibu/Lost Hills Station has been identified as Joseph Wood who resides in the 29000 block of Trail Creek Drive in Agoura Hills, authorities said.

The suspect, wearing camouflaged clothes and carrying a fanny pack, was stopped on foot by a deputy in the area of Forest Cove Lane and Rainbow Crest by detectives at approximately 1:30 a.m., said Sgt. John Skikas.

When the deputy tried to stop Wood, he was able to get a name before the 32-year-old suspect fled the scene, Skikas said.

A containment was set up and air support was called in but Wood was not apprehended, Skikas said.

Area residents reported hearing helicopter activity in the early morning hours.

Detectives were able to locate wood at his home and discovered that he was linked to other burglaries through DNA testing, according to Det. Steven Colitti.

A search warrant was obtained for the suspect’s residence, Colitti said, and stolen property was recovered.

The suspect was arrested at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday

The investigation is ongoing.

A full recommendation to all officers involved...a really great job done. Now if many more of these communities be proactive by having an affordable home security device like a bulldogbar installed to their front doors to prevent front door kickins and home invasion, that will really help the whole neighborhood.
