Brush Fire Knocked Down Off Canwood

A small brush fire broke out near Fire Station 89 on Canwood Road.

Firefighters were able to knock down a small brushfire off Canwood, near Kanan Road Thursday afternoon, fire officials said.

The call came in at 4:13 p.m. of a 200 by 50 foot spot near Fire Station 89, according to Inspector Anthony Akins of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire was knocked down at one half acre and is at 50 percent containment, he said.

A small portion of Canwood was blocked off between Kanan and Forest Cove Drive and should be re-opening soon, he said.

A cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.
