17-Year-Old Driver Arrested in Connection with Hit-and-Run

The teenager is reportedly picked up at her Oak Park home at approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday by deputies.

A 17-year-old driver was arrested in connection with the hit-and-run accident Tuesday which left 67-year-old Joanne Oberlander from Oak Park severely injured at the intersection of Kanan Road and Fountainwood Street.

The teenager was picked up at her Oak Park home at approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday by deputies from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station's traffic division and booked for felony hit-and-run causing great bodily injury, according to Det. Richard Curry.

She was released to the custody of her parents with a court date pending at Los Angeles Superior Court-Sylmar Juvenile Court Branch., Curry said.

Oberlander was struck Tuesday morning while crossing in the marked crosswalk at the intersection of Kanan Road and Fountainwood Street by a 2008-12 dark grey Audi A4 four-door sedan. The driver reportedly did not stop to aid the victim.

Oberlander, who sustained several broken bones, is still hospitalized, Curry said.
