There are often strange background stories regarding pets at the Agoura Animal Shelter, but this one ranks among the most unusual.
Stimpy is a mellow dog that gets along with every other dog, male or female, he has met or roomed with. He is a small guy without the nervous behaviors often associated with his breed. A family that had a female dog at home adopted him. Well, Stimpy really fell for this girl. You see, she was on estrogen for an unknown reason. Neutered Stimpy found her irresistible. Follow up details are not needed, just use your imagination. Stimpy soon was brought back to the shelter even though he was well liked by his new family.
Stimpy is a 3-year-old Chihuahua mix that originally came to the shelter as a stray. Here are some things that are known about bases on the observations of the staff and volunteers:
- He is quiet and rarely makes any noise.
- He absolutely loves to be held.
- He walks well on leash.
- He is a docile and happy companion.
- He likes to hide under a blanket when in the kennel, but his personality emerges when he is in the play yard or when walking the grounds.
Stimpy will be a wonderful pet for someone that likes the companionship of a small dog, but prefers the low key behavior of one that is not demanding of attention. It seems that Stimpy’s greatest joy is to curl up on on the lap of his human friends.
