Lost In The West Valley, This Gentle Giant Needs A Loving Home

Baxter is an 11-year-old male Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd mix that came in as a stray. He was found in the West Valley near Burbank and Topanga in August. The West Valley Shelter was called, but they never picked him up. His family may have looked for him, but, perhaps, didn’t realize he was in Agoura.

He is safe at the shelter and doing well, but it would be wonderful if he could find a forever family. After all, a shelter isn’t the place for a wonderful older guy like him.

He is a gentle boy who just melts everyone he meets, especially those who pet him. He will make a great companion for just about anyone especially a sedentary person that wants a friend who will keep him or her company. He needs very little exercise, short slow walks at the most.

Worried about adopting him because of his age? Don’t be. He was taken to a private vet for a senior wellness check-up and the only concern was his high heat intolerance that causes him to show signs of labored breathing. When it is hot at the shelter, the wonderful volunteers try to keep him comfortable by giving him lots of time in the air-conditioned “real room”.

Spread the word about Baxter. There may be a sad family that has given up searching for him because he has been at the shelter since August 23. However, he is available to any interested party.

Please visit him at the Agoura Animal Care Center and ask about spending some one-on-one time with him.
