Let Alegria Bring Some Joy to your Home

Alegria, all four joyful pounds of her, came to the shelter when her family could no longer keep her. She has had a mixed background of experiences, a loving family when she was full grown, but as a puppy she was exposed to rowdy kids that didn’t understand how to treat her and she was roughly handled and injured.

She recently had a metal pin removed from her leg by a private vet, but still occasionally favors it. However, that old injury does not keep her from being an active, fun-loving 8-year-old and she does not appear to be in any pain.

Here are some things you should know about her:

·      She likes to be carried and held by those she knows.

·      She enjoys going for walks and does well when on leash.

·      She enjoys car rides.

·      She would be best placed with a person or family without young children.

Alegria, this little ball of joy, has been at the shelter since July. No one is sure why a family hasn’t chosen her because she is such an agreeable, happy dog. Perhaps it’s because people are afraid of adopting one that is older. However, eight years is not old for most small breeds. Annual visits to the vet and sometimes medication are needed at all ages and may or may not be more costly for an older dog. She just needs the same things younger dogs do; good nutrition, love, attention, and exercise. Just as a puppy has his whole life ahead of him, she still has the rest of her life in front of her to spend with you.

If you’d like to meet her, ask today. Let’s increase your joy factor and hers as well. Come to the shelter to meet Alegria. She just might be the best gift a family has ever gotten.

The Agoura shelter will close at 3:00 PM on December 24 and will remain closed on Christmas day. Regular hours will resume on December 26.

To adopt Alegria request A4299460. The Agoura Shelter is at 29525 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills. Occasionally pets have already been adopted. To check availability, call 818-991-0071 or visit http://animalcare.lacounty.gov
