Adopt Jenna To Continue Her Emotional Rehabilitation

Jenna a 6-year-old Labrador retriever mix came to the shelter as a stray. She was very shy and fearful when she first arrived and wouldn't let anyone touch her, but she has slowly come out of her shell and is beginning to understand that all of the volunteers and visitors are very nice and treat her with gentleness, patience and love.

When she is approached slowly with an outstretched hand under her chin rather than over her head she responds well and with affection. She now enjoys the company of people, but interactions with her must be guided by observing her level of comfort.

She arrived with a very bad noncontagious skin staph infection that had clearly been left untreated for a long time. She receives medicated baths and her skin and fur are looking much better. In her photos you can see the last remnants on the tips of her ears.

Here are some things you should know about her.

·      She is easy on leash, enjoying her walks, but is still shy about being leashed.

·      She is a very quiet girl. No one has ever heard her make a peep.

·      She gets along with some of the dogs at the shelter. If you have a dog, please bring it in for a meet and greet with Jenna.

·      Other shelter dogs seem to like her because of her calm and quiet demeanor.

·      She is on a fish based food diet that should be continued to assure that her skin issues stay in check.

She will need a special adopter, someone who is willing to take it very slow with her, letting her get used to new things, places and people at her own pace. She is a pup that has come a long way, but has not yet reached her full potential. If you think she may be the girl for you, please stop by to meet her.
