Blog: Halloween!

Getting Ready for Halloween... Let's get out those decorations!

It is October 5th, a misty morning (very welcome after this crazy heat) and I just got back from dropping my daughter off at school. As I drove home it was wonderful to see a magnificent house already dressed up in its full Halloween decor. Great job! How fun this must be for the kids to see this as they walk to Willow!

To me, there are so many things that are even better with anticipation, and Halloween is definitely one of them, especially for our kids. What a fun celebration for them! Candy, costumes, and even throw in a tiny bit of scary too!  All of their favorite characters coming to life for one day and night and their imaginations are running wild! I am so happy it is one thing from my long ago childhood that has kept its same flavor.

It is hard as adults to not remember what it was like to be a child and look forward to the day where you could dress up and go door-to-door and get treats. Do you remember how hard it was to decide what you wanted to be for Halloween and how fun it was to dump your candy out afterwards and see what you had collected? We seemed to have spent countless minutes sorting our candy, and our parents were always sneaking pieces.

As a grown-up is there anything more precious than opening the front door and seeing a tiny little trick-or-treater, with an orange plastic pumpkin basket in hand, looking up at you in hopeful anticipation?

Let's all get our decorations out, so the kids can enjoy every minute of the spirit of Halloween!
