Your Spring Break Family Planner

Some great suggestions for what to do with the kids this week.

Spring break is here, and the kids are home all week. You're not sending them to camp, so what are you going to do to keep them busy?

Never fear, Patch is here to give you some great ideas that both you and the kids will love.

Have a beach day

  • This calls for an afternoon of all-inclusive family fun! Stuff a bag with a football or Frisbee, a book or magazines, maybe a boogie board, and cards. Grab your towels and beach chairs, drive down Kanan Road and head to Zuma Beach (or any other favorite you may have). You can pack your own basket of your favorite snacks from , but if you want it all done for you, stop by and pick up some sandwiches. Having a blast and want to extend into the evening? Grab dinner at Paradise Cove.

Spend a day at the park

  • One of the best things about Agoura Hills is all of our beautiful parks. If you come from an athletic and adventurous family like I do, a park can keep the family entertained for hours. First, order a family basket from and pack some blankets, games and, of course, a football or Frisbee. Head to , , or (to name a few). Invite some friends and other families for a fun gathering!

Go horseback riding

  • This idea came to me when a friend recently went horseback riding. Her stories of the entire experience sounded like so much fun, I had to include it here. Note, this is a little bit of a splurge, so it might not work for larger families. Contact as they have three different trails from which to choose. Prices start at $50 for an hour per person. End the afternoon with a at . They are open limited days, so call in advance.

Catch a movie

  • Depending your schedule, seeing a flick is great day or night. Check out movie times at There are fun family movies out including Hop, Rio, and Soul Surfer. A favorite outing of mine growing up started at with a burger, shake and fries; then going to see a movie. For an extra sugar high, end the evening at either or for a scoop of your favorite treat.

Have a cooking night with a movie

  • Save money from going out, and have some family fun cooking together.  Try some fun Patch recipes , and these are some of my personal favorites. If you aren't looking to cook, we gave you some options for a . Enjoy an evening together dining and watching a favorite movie rented from Blockbuster.
