Agoura's Latest 'Spirited' Hot Spot

Enjoy wines and spirits at Wades Wines, and start your evening or weekend off right.

With temperatures scorching this past weekend, I needed something to cool off. I had visions of sipping delicious chilled white wine while sitting poolside. Instead, I headed over to Wade's Wines, off Agoura Rd., and found my new oasis. Hello, wine tasting!

First, if you have never been inside Wade's Wines, it should be placed on your fall "to do" list. From scotches and whiskeys to champagne and tequila, they have everything. I will place a bet that if you cannot find your favorite bottle of wine here, you won't find it anywhere else. So, upon looking for a cold bottle of Prosecco, I stumbled into their new tasting room.

Since opening in July, Wade's Wine's tasting bar has become quite the hot spot. Open Thursday through Sunday, you can enjoy 40 different beers on tap and 42 selections of wine. Each weekend, there's a different winery that comes to share their latest bottles. Flights range from $8 to $30, depending on the winery.

And don't worry, beer lovers, there's something just for you. Every Thursday night from 4:30-7 p.m., join beer master Scott Slater for a beer tasting. You can even join the club. This Thursday, they will be featuring Surf's Up Brewery. If you can't make it, you can create your own taster any other day starting at $1.50.

For those who are a fan of the darker spirits, join Marty's Whiskey Club. Every few months, he has a tasting event that sells out right away. Enjoy sampling different scotches and whiskeys from around the world.

The tasting room does not serve food, but they do provide some snacks, in the form of honey-wheat pretzels. So, next time you are looking to unwind after a long day or a long week, head over to Wade's Wines.
