Alex Soteras, the downfall of a community enigma?
Alex Soteras seemed to lead a double life. In some circles, he was a professional social butterfly, credited with reviving the Agoura Chamber of Commerce while at its helm. He was an adept schmoozer, a quality that helped him succeed in his mortgage lending business and manage many rental properties he had acquired with the help of his late mother, Patricia Soteras.
After the economic downturn in 2008, Soteras started missing mortgage payments, cheating tenants out of their security deposits, and exhibiting all sorts of dubious behavior.
