A True Father’s Day Gift - Everlasting Photographic Moments with Grandpa

Our lives have become so hectic as we all rush around and battle traffic. Technology’s digital leash provides a bittersweet hold on us which is sometimes almost intolerable. We could all use a bit of silence to reflect on an irreplaceable moment in time.

I was fortunate enough to photograph a beautiful young girl, Aradia, with her grandpa in Sherman Oaks, California. I was asked to photograph Puppy Potluck Party where a group of friends from a local dog park got together and had a fun day centered on photographing their dogs with their families. I was fortunate to witness an exquisitely tender moment that day, which is one reason I love my work as a professional portrait artist based out of Agoura Hills, California.

Grandpa Bill sat down in the chair and pulled his beloved granddaughter Aradia into his lap along with their two adored dogs. I captured these images, noticing the particularly sweet bond between them.  I just loved the images – the bond between them had an intangible electricity. After the party, I found out that Bill had cancer, and sadly passed away shortly thereafter. These images took on tremendous meaning after I received the news. These images are treasured by the family and I hope when Aradia grows up, she will recall the lovely day we had and will treasure this moment in time, cuddling with her grandfather. I feel so fortunate to have captured this special time with her Grandpa.

If we could all slow down, just a little, we may all savor these special moments – captured forever. I hope you are able to enjoy these times, and hopefully capture emotional photographs of your own to treasure these fleeting moments with your father and grandfathers.
