Why we need probiotics in our diet

Why in taking millions of bacteria can be good for you!

When the word bacteria is brought up we usually cringe and go wash our hands. The idea of swallowing billions of bacteria in one gulp can seem a bit outlandish!

Not all bacteria is bad. We have millions and millions of good bacteria living in our gut. This good bacteria has a lot to do with our health and how we feel. More and more evidence is showing the importance of a balanced gut and the benefits of probiotics. The term probiotic comes from the compound of two Greek words "pro" meaning the promotion of and "biotic" which means life. The very definition affirms life and health.

When our good bacteria gets disrupted from things like antibiotics there can be many side effects.  To help the balance of good bacteria in our gut taking a probiotic supplement or eating foods that have good bacteria. Good bacteria will help keep harmful micro-organisms in check, aid in digestion as well as help with nutrient absorption. When your gut is working effectively and efficiently your body will begin to function in a much healthier state.

Probiotics have many health benefits such as increasing your immunity, helping your digestive system work optimally, helping with allergies and women's health. People who have Crohn's Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome can benefit greatly from increasing their in take of probiotics.

With a good workout routine, a healthy diet that includes probiotics, proper sleep and stress management you will be on your way to a healthier version of yourself. If these four basic components are a priority in your life, your body will reach its optimal weight, you will have more energy, your immune system will be strong keeping you from getting sick and your mental state will be enhanced.

Probiotics are a great way to increase your over health helping you be the best you can be. Not all probiotics are created equal so please make sure you are looking at the ingredients of any supplement or food you are in taking and be aware of extra added "junk" that could be lurking in these supplements or foods.
