Agoura Hills Businesses, U.S. Marines Work Together for Children in Need
Agoura Hills businesses and the U.S. Marines Toys for Tots Program work together to help make this holiday season special for children in need.
At any given moment and location around the world, there is a United States Marine whom has made it his duty to protect our country. The Marines will tell you that their motto Semper Fidelis (Latin for Always Faithful) has a meaning that extends beyond a creed. It is a way of life for those who wear the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor.
The U.S. Marines’ Toys for Tots Program is part of an effort to serve and protect the United States’ most valuable asset, our children. Due to the poor economy, there is an usually high amount of children that are in need this holiday season. Something as simple as a toy can make a world of difference to a child; the impact is beyond measure.
This simple, yet amazing program started 1947, when Major William L. Herndricks, USMCR and a group of Marine Reservist in Los Angeles, California decided to collect toys and distribute them to local children in need. Now the Toys for Tots is an official activity of the United States Marine Corps and is active all 50 states.
