One City, One Book: Kids Get Back to Nature

Local children learned the basics of wilderness survival at Tuesday's 'One City, One Book' library program.

About a dozen children, eager to learn about surviving in the wilderness, turned out for the 'One City, One Book' kids program Tuesday at the .

The afternoon presentation was based on the Newbery Honor-winning wilderness survival novel Hatchet by Gary Paulsen.

Mayor John Edelston engrossed the kids with stories about early Agoura. Next, Wings of Discovery Bird Outreach owner Stephanie Sayre introduced the children to wild birds. Finally, everyone had the opportunity to make their own trail mix.
