Stars, New Fundraising Options Headline T.H.E. Event

The 2nd annual T.H.E. Event takes place June 8 at the Calabasas Tennis & Swim Center.

Band From TV joins local business and community leaders as well as residents from Calabasas, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, Bell Canyon, Hidden Hills and West Hills for the second annual event in support of the T.H.E. Foundation for Las Virgenes Schools.

T.H.E. Event will take place on Saturday, June 8, at the Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center. Tickets are available online at: www.TheEventParty.org

The evening’s festivities, which will also include a silent and live auction, will be emceed by Chris Harrison of ABC’s The Bachelor/The Bachelorette. Last year’s event raised more than $400,000 and was a testament to the community’s commitment to their children and schools. All proceeds from T.H.E. Event will support the teachers and counselors who make a difference in children's lives every day.

The Calabasas Tennis and Swim Center will, once again, be transformed into a chic and sophisticated red-carpet affair. Guests will have the opportunity to feast on food provided by local restaurants, including Brent’s Deli, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, Gladstones, Mastro’s, Roy’s, Umami Burger and sample wines from such wine labels as Silver Oak, Bevan Cellars and Tercero.

This year's event co-chairs are Janice Dingman, Deanna Glassberg and Marc Hernandez.

“Within the last year, T.H.E. Event has rallied local businesses and corporations to join the Las Virgenes School District in honoring and supporting the future of our children,” said Hernandez, president of T.H.E. Foundation.

New this year is an online silent auction through Bidding for Good. Scott Merrin, a local parent and owner of Silent Partners, has donated his time and expertise as well as that of his staff to transition to an online platform where both guests and those who are unable to attend T.H.E. Event can bid on amazing and unique items in support of Las Virgenes Schools. From a day on a 42’ Catalina yacht to a 7-night stay in Barbados or Lakers and Dodgers tickets, everyone will have the chance to go online and bid. The auction will go live on May 30th and can be accessed via www.TheEventParty.org.

T.H.E. Event has also benefited from the generosity of local dad, Jeff Tanenbaum, who will be graciously donating his auctioneering skills to the Live Auction.

At nightfall, The Band From TV will take the stage to perform a variety of cover tunes and rock n' roll classics.

The members of Band from TV include honorary co-chair, drummer and founding member Greg Grunberg of NBC’s Heroes, Alias and The Client List and also the creator of www.TalkAboutIt.org;  James Denton (guitar) from Desperate Housewives;  Bob Guiney (vocals), who appeared on The Bachelor;  Adrian Pasdar (guitar) of Heroes, Ultimate Spider-Man and The Lying Game;  Scott Grimes (keyboard/vocalist) from American Dad, ER, and NCIS Los Angeles;  Stephen Collins from 7th Heaven and all new Devious Maids; and Eddie Matos (percussion) from General Hospital and All My Children

Band From TV is dedicated to giving back with each celebrity band member committed to a charity. The majority of the money raised from gigs and the band's CD & DVD sales is donated to support the charities in their endeavors.

"Band From TV is so proud to once again take the stage at T.H.E. Event and rock all the hot moms and dads in the Las Virgenes school district," said Grunberg. "We are so lucky to have amazing schools, amazing faculty, and amazing teachers... the least we can do is to act like rock legends in support of the incredible work our school district does for our children. Eat, drink and rock on! And I will fi,nd out who stole my hat last year."
