One Night Only! Join us for Spooky Sonorities at the Montgomery Arts House for Music and Architecture!
Dearest Friends of Music and Spooky October Nights,
HALLOWEEN IS NEARLY HERE!!!
Join us at the Montgomery Arts House for Music and Architecture in Malibu, CA this very Wednesday, October 30th, the day before Halloween, as we get spooky, creepy and downright frightening! A ghoulish wine/cheese reception starts at 6:30pm, with the concert following at 7:00pm.
Listen to spine-tingling music, hair-raising harmonies and monstrous melodies! During intermission, take a “Stroll” through our very rustic Haunted House, prepared for you by the youngsters at MAHMA!! Sip hot apple cider and munch on trick or treat candy.
Guest Cellist, Michael Fiztpatrick, joined by Resident Pianist, Wendy Prober, will bewitch you with their spellbinding performances of Erich Korngold’s (of “the Adventures of Robin Hood” fame) Suite for Piano Left Hand, Two Violins, and Cello.
As if that were not scary enough, the musical ensemble will also perform live music alongside MAHMA’s traditional Halloween screening of a fabulous Silent Movie Horror Scene from the 1927 Silent Classic, “The Stabbing of Mr. Wu,” starring the “Man of a Thousand Faces,” Lon Chaney! (...a bit of trivia: Lon Chaney was very famous for his portrayal of the original “Phantom of the Opera!”). Be prepared to let out some ghostly giggles as early special effects wow you with their phantom-like realism!
Rounding out the October 30th performance will be a work by our own Maria Newman as she and cellist Michael Fiztpatrick duel it out in Newman’s critically acclaimed Violin and Cello Duo: Solus. Written in response to the grave illness of a dear friend, the work is wrought with passion, presenting wildly dancing lines thrown back and forth between the two instruments.
Make your reservations as soon as possible! Space is limited in our intimate, yet SPOOKY environs. http://malibufriendsofmusic.org/eventreservations.html
