The WVAG Dinner meeting on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 will feature an oil painting demonstration by the well known and award-winning artist, Leslie Saeta. Utilizing only a palette knife, she paints fresh and colorful pieces. Working with a limited palette, Leslie strives to create beautiful colors and to capture the light perfectly in every painting. In addition, she hosts a weekly talk radio show titled "Artists Helping Artists" which provides a great resource tool for all artists. The Dinner/Demo meeting will take place at Los Robles Greens West Ballroom, 299 S. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks, California 91361. The doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner is served at 6:00 p.m., and the oil demonstration begins at 7:00 p.m. concluding at 9:00 p.m. The all-inclusive price is $25 for WVAG Members and $30 for Guests. All members of our community regardless of their race, creed, or religion should be respected. Perhaps our community needs to introspect and see why this occurred and how further events can be prevented.

I think for the most part, people are mentally drained.
Few take the time to sit back relax…Read More anymore. Even when we do have a minute to ourselves, we're constantly bombarded with emails, text messages and status updates. If we unplugged ourselves from our devices, we might find the serenity we all so desperately need.
Turn your phone off, take a hike. Find a big tree next to a creek and sit under the shade. Enjoy nature. Listen to the sound of the water, the birds and the breeze as it moves through the brush. When you get back to nature, if only for a short time, you'll leave with a clear mind and feel revitalized.
You're right---technology was supposed to make our lives more simple. Instead, it fuels the attention deficit disorder as our brain becomes a hashtag with a constant barrage of (often useless) news and updates.
Although I'm young, I'd give anything to go back to the days where calling someone often led to a wild goose chase of finding an available payphone and spare change to make the call.
