The
Dole Great Race of Agoura Hills presented by Northwestern Mutual, already
awarded Best Half Marathon, Top 10K, Best Race Swag and Most
Killer Post-Race Party
, is enhancing every facet of this year’s event to ensure
runners have their most memorable race day experience ever.

For 2014, #GreatRaceLA goes social:

  • Event day will
be live tweeted @GreatRaceLA starting at 5 a.m.

  • Continuous photo
    updates on Instagram/GreatRaceLA and Facebook/GR8RACE

  • “Selfie Station”
a special area for ever-popular group selfie pictures

Plus, for the first time, race photos will be free to all
registered runners compliments of LARaces.com, live broadcasts from the
finish area, and a new results system provides updates in real time so
friends and family can track runners online as they cross the finish line.
And for the kids, the Great Race

has set up a Spartan Race-inspired 8-obstacle course!

Six Events, Something for Everyone

With three different starting lines including the iconic
Paramount Ranch and traversing some of the

most scenic, historic and beautiful areas of the region, the Great Race has something
for everyone.

Paralympic Silver Medalist and world record holder Blake
Leeper
will start the races, leading thousands of runners from 7
countries and 36 states in the six-race festival: Chesebro Half
Marathon
(mostly trail course) which sold out in record time, Pacific
Half Marathon
(road course), Arrowhead Water Old Agoura 10KEquinox
5K
Camp Kinneret Family Fun Run and the Kids Mile

All races finish at Chumash Park in host city Agoura Hills. Leeper, born
without limbs below his knees, is gearing up for a bid to be the first
American double-amputee to run in the Olympics, in 2016.

With turnout so high, race organizers suggest runners get
timing tags, bibs, shirts and goodie bags prior to the day of the race. On March
20
 (12 noon – 7 p.m.) and March 21 (12 noon – 6
p.m.), runners can go to the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center, 27040 Malibu
Hills Road, Calabasas, 91301 to get their race packs.

Giving Back

Since its inception, the Great Race of Agoura Hills has
donated more than $1.6 million to local schools, making
it one of the largest single private contributors to education in the
region. Plus, the event generates more than $1 million of
economic impact locally every year.

“The Great Race has become such a prominent part of our
culture. It brings a lot of positive focus to the region and especially to
Agoura Hills,” said City of Agoura Hills Councilmember and five-time mayor
Denis Weber. “Thousands of people that have never been to Agoura Hills
come and visit our area for this race. They fall in love and many come
back and make it their home.”
