Ginger has a Zest for Life

This Australian Kelpie mix needs an energetic lifestyle.

Ginger, an 8-year-old Australian Kelpie mix, was turned into the shelter because her owner no longer wanted her. While the volunteers have been great by showering her with love and attention to keep her spirits up but–if you know anything about the breed–the shelter is no place for a dog like her. She is a working breed and needs to run, play, work and stretch her legs.

Here are some things you should know about her:

  • She has had some training and knows her basic commands.
  • She is friendly and engaging.
  • She loves lots of attention.
  • She does well in the house-like room (real room) at the shelter.
  • She rides well in a car.
  • She walks well on a leash.
  • She loves to take a bath.

She is no couch potato and will do best in a family with a yard to play in or a buddy to hike or run with. She really won’t do well in an apartment.
