Upcoming Hikes at Malibu Creek State Park

The annual calendar for guided hikes at Malibu Creek State Park is now available. Get ready for adventure by attending one of the meetups below.

SAT 1/28, SUN 2/26, SAT 3/31, SAT 4/28, SUN 5/27, SAT 6/30, 10 a.m.-Noon

Join a docent for a walk along the creek and through a wooded valley. Learn about the area’s animals, plants, early inhabitants, and movies filmed in the park. Meet at the lower parking lot by restrooms.

GEOLOGY HIKE

SAT 1/14, 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Join us for a docent led hike exploring the sedimentary and volcanic rocks found in the park. An easy walk on the flat upper trail. Meet at the lower parking lot by the restrooms.  

LONGER HIKES FOR NEW DOCENTS & THE  PUBLIC

1)  SUN 4/15 9 a.m.,  4-5 hours

Join a docent for a moderate, mostly downhill hike exploring the Backbone Trail west of Corral Canyon. Meet in lower parking lot for carpool.

2)  SUN 5/20, 9 a.m., 4-5 hours

Join a docent for a moderate, steep downhill hike exploring the Backbone Trail east of Corral Canyon. Meet in lower parking lot for carpool. Contact Tom at 818-216-7696 or tgkaplan54@gmail.com by 6 p.m. on May 17 for reservations.

3)  SUN 6/10 9 a.m., 4-5 hours
