"When you drive around the area you see countless numbers of MMA, or other martial arts type gyms, and they are always full," Joe Pecora, co-founder of Fight Sports Entertainment along with Rhonda Lipnicki, told the Star. "The same goes for major professional MMA bouts. Every bar or restaurant that airs them seems to draw an insane crowd. We knew that if these crowds came out to watch a taped fight, they would jump at the opportunity to see these gladiators do battle in person."

According to the Star, fighters can win a few different ways: A knockout occurs when a fighter is rendered unconscious by his opponent. A technical knockout, or TKO, "is when a fighter is forced into a situation where the referee feels the fighter is in danger and cannot defend himself and stops the fight," Pecora told the Star. "A tapout is when a fighter puts a submission hold on an opponent and forces him to tap or risk serious injury from the hold."
