A man that barricaded himself inside a home near Malibou lake in the Santa Monica Mountains apparently committed suicide Sunday after an hours-long standoff.
The barricade began around 10:40 a.m. at a home in the 29000 block of Paiute Drive, according to Sgt. Mark Bock of the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff's station.
Bock said the standoff concluded at 4:45 p.m. when a special weapons team went into the location and found the man dead.
"The male resident was found with a self-inflicted apparent gunshot wound," he said.
The man's name was being withheld as part of a further investigation, Bock said.
