Snoopy and Shadow Need a Warm Home to Share

They are an odd but loveable couple.

Snoopy, an older male Chihuahua Dachshund mix, and Shadow, a younger female Burmese Mountain Dog mix, arrived together at the Agoura Shelter and are regarded by many as the odd couple. And while they don’t have to be adopted as a pair, they appear to be very bonded.

Little Snoopy is the dominant member of the two. When sleeping, he tries to take the entire bed to himself while Shadow is often scrunched up in the corner on the concrete.

In their previous home, they were kept outside all the time, so they may need to learn indoor manners, although they have been spending time in the real room and seem to be doing okay.

Here are some things you should know about Snoopy and Shadow:

  • Shadow is housebroken and Snoopy is partially.
  • Snoopy is in pretty good shape for an older guy. He has a growth on his leg, which will be removed at no cost to his new family, and while he was at the vet, he was excellent with the other dogs while waiting his turn.
  • Shadow not only tolerates a good brushing, she enjoys it. She was a knotted mess when she was turned in.
  • Each dog is sweet and gentle with people and enjoy human companionship. Snoopy likes to cuddle on a lap, and Shadow likes to be close to people.
  • Shadow knows how to sit. Both are treat motivated and seem to learn new things well.

Being kept outdoors all the time has–beyond the obvious lack of comfort and companionship–resulted in unexpected downside for this duo. They got into a bit of scrape when they got out of their yard and had a tussle with another dog. It is recommended that they be the only dogs in the household.

Please come to the shelter to meet Snoopy and Shadow. It is hoped that they will live in a welcoming indoor environment with their humans each with his/her own cozy bed.

To choose Snoopy and/or Shadow, request ID A3334556 for Snoopy and ID A3875350 for Shadow. The Agoura Shelter is at 29525 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills. Occasionally pets have already been adopted. To check availability, call 818-991-0071 or visit the website.

The information we received from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's station was that a mentally illRead More patient was removed from the bus Sunday night. No one was harmed, officials said.

Either way it is wrong and uses the race card as a "despicable stunt"

Not a hate crime at all. Just a very stupid kid trying to manipulate the system so he could beRead More granted a athletic transfer. One of the kids on the "hit list" was the perp. Really despicable stunt.

It is unfortunate that this incident happened at our local schools. The crime is a result ofRead More ignorance and lack of education. All members of our community regardless of their race, creed, or religion should be respected. Perhaps our community needs to introspect and see why this occurred and how further events can be prevented.

Thanks for your great perspective on this issue. We should all unplug once in awhile.

I think for the most part, people are mentally drained. Few take the time to sit back relaxRead More anymore. Even when we do have a minute to ourselves, we're constantly bombarded with emails, text messages and status updates. If we unplugged ourselves from our devices, we might find the serenity we all so desperately need. Turn your phone off, take a hike. Find a big tree next to a creek and sit under the shade. Enjoy nature. Listen to the sound of the water, the birds and the breeze as it moves through the brush. When you get back to nature, if only for a short time, you'll leave with a clear mind and feel revitalized. You're right---technology was supposed to make our lives more simple. Instead, it fuels the attention deficit disorder as our brain becomes a hashtag with a constant barrage of (often useless) news and updates. Although I'm young, I'd give anything to go back to the days where calling someone often led to a wild goose chase of finding an available payphone and spare change to make the call.

If you can't talk politics with friends without being able to agree to disagree or even end upRead More losing them as friends then they were not the "friends" you thought they were anyway.

It's not about moving forward, it's about saving your breath! That's the whole problem; too muchRead More talk and not enough action! You gonna eat that fish or just hold it up in the air?
Dave April 7, 2013 at 07:29 am
then again, if you only speak with people who agree with you, how do you ever move forward? aren'tRead More you just "spinning your wheels" staying in the same spot never moving forward?
